Twenty five years ago, Nancy Brinker promised her sister that she would do everything possible to put an end to breast cancer. Today, thanks to 100,000 survivors and volunteers/activists, Komen for the Cure is the most progressive grassroots organization fighting breast cancer. We are currently seeking individuals interested in volunteering their time and furthering the promise. The El Paso Affiliate has Activist/Volunteer Orientation on a quarterly basis. Throughout the year, the El Paso Affiliate has various tasks in the office that volunteers could help us fulfill. Examples would be entering information into our database, assembling educational materials, completing large mailings, and handling various special projects. Assist in recruiting volunteers, contacting volunteers for upcoming opportunities, gather health fair/event details from Affiliate Staff and other committee chairs, organize volunteer orientations/trainings and recognize volunteers for their hard work. The Resource Center will serve as a resource to everyone searching for general breast cancer information. Volunteers will provide health internet resources, books, brochures and other educational materials on various breast cancer topics. There is a mandatory training for all volunteers who will assist at the Resource Center on Saturday, June 21st from 9:00am – 12:00pm at TotalCare.
